Hello Destin!

I just got back from a "girl's trip" with my mom and sisters...my dad came along as our chauffeur, bag carrier, navigator, errand guy, and just great company. :) Here are a few pics to document our trip.

A late night trip to the urgent care. Unfortunately, the first night we were there Elliott developed a nasty sounding cough, hence the trip to the urgent care. Not what you want to do on vacation.

We ate at many fantastic restaurants, one being Pompano Joes. It was overlooking the beach, so although it was slightly warm and humid, it was a great view!

There were some major waves the last day we were there. This picture doesn't do it justice.

And we spent some more time swimming at the pool. The beach was absolutely beautiful, but our pools were relaxing, had very comfortable lounge chairs, no sand to get caught in your bathing suit, fresh water, and drinks on demand...all steps from our door. Hard to beat.

Elliott loved splashing in the water. I don't feel like I got to take her to the pool as often as I wanted because she was coughing so much I didn't want to make it worse.

It was a wonderful vacation, however it was not quite as relaxing as I was anticipating. Miss Elliott was up EVERY single night at least once and the latest she slept was 6:15. Since my mom and I usually slept in her room, it made for some long nights for us. She apparently did NOT realize we were on vacation! Since she was not feeling well, she was more whiny, clingy, and not quite as fun to be around. I think both of my sisters were slightly traumatized about traveling with babies. Plus, it was difficult not having Kev there. I never realized how much I depend on him for help. However, I was unbelievably thankful to get to spend quality time with my family. Such a blessing since the move is oh so rapidly approaching!

Fun summer!

I have been meaning to post these pictures for a while but have not gotten a chance. Sooo...there a little old but too cute to not post. Several weeks ago, we participated in Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) walk. This is the second year we participated in the walk because our precious "fake nephew" who is four was diagnosed with Type I diabetes two years ago. Obviously, this has DRASTICALLY changed his life and we want to always support him and his family in whatever ways we can.

After the walk, we got to go to Benton's first birthday party.

He was absolutely precious and was the best first cupcake eater I have EVER seen. He ate the whole cupcake in about 1 minute. So funny!

My little sis is having a gender reveal party this weekend so I'm super excited to join her in celebrating this new little one! I'm sure I'll have some great pics to post after this weekend!

Sickness and life update

On Wednesday, I was thinking to myself, "Elliott hasn't been sick in a long time." I spoke too soon. That afternoon, she started having a runny nose and felt a little warm. Wednesday night she was up all.night.long. NOT FUN! I know we were up a lot when she was first born, but our bodies are out of practice. Needless to say, we walked around a bit like zombies yesterday, but thankfully, she slept through the night last night! I was SO thankful!

She still has lots of snot coming out her nose (lovely) and has been running fevers off and on. I think she's better today, but definitely not a 100%. No real fevers yet today but she has been SO whiney...about EVERYTHING. Like I said above, she hasn't been sick for a while so we haven't had to deal with the snotty nose issue lately. Miss Elliott HATES having her nose wiped (like I'm sure every kid), but now that she's older, she can resist much better. She basically throws a fit while covering her nose with her hands. So to wipe it, I have to hold both arms down with one hand and wipe with the other...quite a fiasco. So as I see snot running down her face, I have an internal debate...is it really worth the fight? Sometimes it's not, sometimes it is. Today I had to ask myself this question when we were in a store, and at that moment, I decided it was not worth it. So yes, I was "that" mom walking around the store with a snotty nose kid. Don't judge until you've been there.

So what else have we been up to (hence the no blog posts)? Well, we're in the midst of selling our house. We have had lots of showings which is really encouraging and I don't want to complain, but I am REALLY tired of cleaning. Cleaning is definitely NOT my first choice when E is down for her nap. I am also in the process of training a new girl to take my position at work. I think she will be fantastic, but it's all a little bittersweet as I am "replaced." I guess this next month and a half will probably be bittersweet (WOW...is it really less than 2 months?), but I know we'll survive.

I had every intention of doing E's 10 month post, but Kev took our computer that has all our pictures on it to be serviced. I can't promise anything, but I will try to be a better blogger. :)
