A photo of each of my kids every week in 2014
As I mentioned in my last post, we spent 2 weeks in Texas/Oklahoma visiting family.  I was really nervous about the trip with 3 kids, but I have to say it was our best trip home thus far.  I feel encouraged that as the kids get older, it gets a little easier each time.  The big thing for me is SLEEP...or lack of sleep.  Isn't that what it always boils down to?  I'm thankful all 3 sleeps slept decently!  There were so many (iphone) pics to choose from but these were 3 of my favorites.

I SO love bath pictures.  Maybe I'm weird.
Improvising at it's best.  Life with lots of kids the same age. :)
The two newest girls.  It was so wonderful to meet my newest niece.  Love her!

A photo of each of my kids every week in 2014

Feeding Campbell her first bottle.  Kev has always given our kids their first bottle but Miss E was eager to help.
Apparently I have not been taking many pictures of poor Mason.  This is all I have of him.  Reunited with our best friends in Oklahoma.
Campbell had her first flight.  She slept the entire way.  Such a champ.
And just because I thought this was cute, I included it too. :)

Elliott is Campbell's constant companion, her little mother.  I've been so thankful for her help. :)
This boy has been obsessed with this puzzle.  He put it together maybe a million times until he finally mastered it.  I felt so proud of his accomplishment.
She got to celebrate 10 years of marriage with mommy and daddy in Chicago!  Such a fun time.
And I had to include a rare picture of all 3.  These pictures are VERY hard to come by.

A picture a week

Inspired by this friend, I decided to try to post a weekly photo of each of my kids in 2014.  Obviously, I am behind...like 8 weeks behind...but I'm going to try to do a little catch up.  I might not have a picture of each kid every week and they might be poor quality iphone pics, but we'll take what we got.  I think this will help me blog more consistently.  Here we go...

Elliott and I love to bake together although it is slightly exhausting because she wants to do EVERYTHING on her own.  However, I love these sweet moments spent just the two of us.
Terrible picture, but Mason and Campbell went to their first movie in the theater.  We went to Frozen as a family and it was so.much.fun.
Oh my sweet girl!  I love when they can sleep anywhere.

My smallest valentine

I have been such a terrible blogger.  Something about being a mom to 3 kids 3 and under...I don't have time to use the bathroom by myself.  Seriously.  However, I took these pics of #3 on Valentine's Day and HAD to share, because she is the cutest.thing.ever.  Can't get enough of her cuteness.  So I thought you should enjoy the pictures as well.
 True statement.
She is such a sweet, easy-going baby.  She rarely cries and is a smiley little girl (especially to her mommy).
She nurses every 3 hours and usually wakes up once at night.  She has slept until 5:30am but I would almost prefer a 3 or 4am feeding because she goes right back to sleep and I get a little extra sleep afterwards.  She's not the best napper.  She usually naps about 45 minutes between feedings, but will go back to sleep when I hold her.
 Work those neck muscles, girl.
 She loves "talking."
She loves her bouncer and sits in it frequently.  She also likes being carried in the Moby although I don't do it all the time.
She is NOT ticklish...at ALL.  I keep trying but she looks at me like I'm crazy.
I go back to work in 1 week and although I'm excited in some ways, it breaks my heart a little to think about leaving her (and the other kids, obviously).
Life is SO crazy with 3.  We have good days, and days I feel like I might go crazy.  Sometimes it's hard not to feel stir crazy, being stuck in the house with 3 young kids, freezing temperatures for weeks and over 2 feet of snow that just.won't.melt.  But I wouldn't change it for the world.  Very thankful!  Sorry for the picture overload.  I just couldn't choose.

10 years.

10 years.

3,650 days.

87,600 hours.

3 kids, 1 miscarriage.

2 cities, 3 homes.

7 and 1/2 years where one of us was in school (and still counting).

7 jobs between us both.

I am so thankful for each and every hour, day and year the Lord has allowed us to spend together, and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you!

Photos through the years...
 Just dating...gotta love the hair!
 Engaged!
In Eureka Springs with our BFFs.  Hello blondie.
Camping in the Redwoods.
Seattle.  One of our favorite cities.
 Our first Christmas card.
 Anja's wedding.
California.
 Ziplining in Alaska.
 Our family of 3.
Then 4.
And now 5 although I don't have a good picture with us all together.

It's so fun to look back at all our pictures and see how much we have changed (children have definitely aged us..ha), but also just to remember how much fun we've had the past 10 years.  Together we have laughed, cried, prayed, played, grieved, fought, and loved.  He has challenged me to change the way I think, get out of my comfort zone, see the good in change, and so much more.  I can't imagine marrying a more perfect man for me.  I look forward to the adventures in the road ahead of us.

Christmas 2013

It's hard to believe Christmas has already come and gone, and now a new year is upon us.  There are so many things I've wanted to blog about lately, but I've had a hard time finding the time and free hands to type...I guess that's a good problem to have.

This was our first Christmas in our married life that we have not spent with some extended family.  That definitely made it feel different, but it was sweet nonetheless.  In some ways, it felt a little like a "normal" weekend...with presents.  However, we did get to spend Christmas Eve and the afternoon of Christmas day with some special friends that made the time even more fun.

The other aspect that made the time more fun was the fact both of the big kids were old enough to open presents and get excited.  Oh to experience Christmas again as a child, but not we get to see Christmas through the eyes of our children...what a blessing.  Kev and I talk a lot about traditions (especially around the holidays), and what type of traditions we want to have for our family.  With that comes discussion on how we want our Christmas to look like, especially how we can take the focus on receiving gifts and focus on the birth of Jesus and our anticipation for His return.  No easy task.

This year, I really appreciated insight from this blog, and we tried to institute some of her suggestions.  I really liked the idea of getting each child a want, need, and a surprise along with something to read and something to wear (pjs) so we generally tried to follow these principles.  I also loved the idea of each child having their gifts wrapped in 1 type of paper and a piece of that paper being at the bottom of the stocking so they would know which presents were their's.  This worked out particularly well with small kids as well since they can't read.  She has several other good ideas that I think would be fun when the kids get a little older (slumber party under the tree, money to get each other gifts, etc).

So what did our Christmas day look like?  It was pretty chaotic...excitement and joy, mixed with tears for a variety of reasons.  I was trying to feed Miss Campbell so Kev was in charge of documenting the event with video and photos as well as trying to help get toys out of boxes.  Lots going on but so much fun.  I think Miss E's favorite gift was a reusable Hello Kitty bag that I got from the dollar bin at Target and Mason loved a little battery-powered drill.  We had some friends over for dinner last night and they asked E what she got for Christmas.  She excitedly said, "I got sockies...with kitty cats on them AND candy santas."  Such a reminder to me that kids are so happy with simple gifts.  They don't need extravagant toys and they don't care how much things cost.  Hopefully I can remember this next year as well.
Mason was big enough to open presents!
Lots and lots of trash. :)
 Sweet Campbell's first Christmas.
Brave dress from Aunt Erin was a big hit!

Or course we didn't get a family pic or even a picture of all 3 kids together but at least we got some documentation the event happened.  Story of our lives.
