Back from D.C.

After the conference was over on Friday, Kev flew into D.C. and met me at Union Station for a weekend together. It was a whirlwind weekend, but it was so much fun! When Kev and I take vacations, we usually don't rest, we try to see as much as possible. I definitely noticed in my new "state" I felt tired much more quickly and our philosophy of seeing everything possible wore me out. We took pictures with 2 different cameras so here are some of the pics from our new camera. It's hard to take pictures together (unless you have someone else do it) so I'll post those later.

The capitol

Washington Monument

and again with me and Baby E

The Vietnam Memorial
Me and Van Gogh at the National Museum of Art

Jefferson Memorial
The White House...no we didn't see Obama.

FDR Memorial...love the quote
Waiting for the shuttle to Georgetown
Georgetown University
The Lincoln Memorial
Waiting at the subway.

Kev has become quite the photographer. He is experimenting with the new camera and I think he's getting pretty good.

MIA

Sorry I have been MIA lately in the whole blog-writing-world. I just wanted to let you know I am actually in Washington D.C. for a work trip. I meant to write before I left but of course I ran out of time.

So far the trip has been good. I felt a little nervous about the whole traveling experience, sitting in a conference for >8hours a day, unpredictable meals, etc, but so far it has already been better than expected. The flight was uneventful...no blood clots that I know of. Yes, I would think of that. Don't worry, I was flexing my feet during the flight. I thought I was going to be like the only pregnant girl at the conference (it is mainly dominated by male surgeons), but I actually saw 2 pregnant girls walking around. Funny how that is reassuring!

I'll definitely write a longer post when I get home and post pictures!

Pants

So I finally took the plunge and purchased some maternity pants. Let me first start this off by saying the whole shopping experience was actually very nice. I've decided my favorite thing about shopping for maternity clothes is there are really very limited options, and I love that since I'm not a huge shopper and tire easily. The clothes seem to be either totally hideous or somewhat cute so it really narrows your options.

Kev and I went to Motherhood Maternity where I found 1 pair of jeans and 2 pairs of dress pants. I decided it was a necessity to shop today because I am actually going on a work trip to Washington D.C. in 1 week, and I did not want to wear dress pants consecutive days unzipped with hope that my bella band would keep them in place. I decided comfort was worth the price. Kev was totally a great sport and was so excited I found some clothes. Unfortunately, while he was waiting outside the dressing room for me to show him the pants, he had to hear all the woes of a pregnant woman looking for a bra. It was pretty humorous. He said the only thing that he thought was a little odd was she insisted the sales associate come into the room with her to look at her bras. Made me giggle.

So hopefully I'm set with all the pants I will need to buy for this pregnancy...is that wishful thinking?
